BIOGRAPHY

“Sharp, chunky modern hard rock that makes you think of Halestorm, Foo Fighters and In This Moment, alongside touches of various classic rock heavyweights “ - Classic Rock Magazine, UK Issue 269

Marisa And The Moths are turning heads with their alternative rock sound and powerhouse female vocals. Their 2019 self-titled debut album received rave reviews from press outlets like Kerrang!, Classic Rock, and BBC Radio 2's Rock Show.

With previous headline tours under their belt, support slots for artists like Kris Barras Band, as well as appearances at festivals like 2000 Trees and Planet Rockstock, Marisa And The Moths have proven themselves to be a top-tier live act.

The past few years have not been easy for Marisa and the band, including a near-death covid experience and personal tragedies. However, these challenges have only served to inspire their most mature music yet.

The band kick off 2023 with a series of EPs leading up to their highly anticipated sophomore LP, 'What Doesn't Kill You'. They will also be recording a live session album at the iconic Abbey Road studios.

Marisa's raw and honest lyrics paired with alternative rock and grunge instrumentals make for a unique and compelling listen. These new releases offer an intimate look at her grief in overcoming an abusive relationship, and an honest insight into her battle with anxiety, depression, whilst dealing with a relapsing eating disorder. Listeners can expect both hope and despair as they navigate through each track.

Each of the EP and album titles are incomplete sayings, which signposts the juxtaposition between hope and despair.

The first EP, ‘Damned If You Do’ drops on Friday 27th January 2023. Featuring three electrifying singles and their stripped-down acoustic counterparts, which showcases the raw emotion in Marisa's vocals and songwriting. From the cinematic ‘If You Knew’ to the gritty ‘Wither Away’, this EP is not one to be missed.

The second EP, ‘All That Glitters’, features a mix of upbeat pop melodies and grungy rawness, giving listeners a taste of the band's diverse musical palette. Lead single ‘SAD’ captures Paramore mixed with early Radiohead, while ‘Straight Laced’ shows off their softer side. ‘Fake It Til You Make It’ brings the energy of pop punk and emo to round out the EP.

Finally, the bands second full-length album will be released at the tail end of the year. This record features radio singles like ‘Borderline’ and heavier, atmospheric tracks like ‘Get It Off My Chest’ and Who Are You Waiting For?’. And for those who have followed the EP series some of those songs are included, giving the fans an insight into their true meanings within the context of the full-length record.

With all that is to come in 2023, it is sure to be the year of the Moth.
